    • About

The official name of this organization is the Pend Oreille County Historical Society, Inc. The Society collects and preserves artifacts that reflect the history of Pend Oreille County and adjoining areas to use and display them for educational purposes. The Museum and grounds are located at 402 S Washington Avenue in Newport, Washington, approximately 50 miles northeast of Spokane, Washington. Under the direction of the Board of Directors, the administration of the Society is handled by four officers, and the day to day operations are carried out by committees consisting of Society members and volunteers. Membership in the Society is encouraged as the Historical Society and Museum is dependent on membership funds to operate. Membership is open to anyone who wishes to join. Yearly membership dues, which are very reasonable, are established by the Board of Directors. Membership meetings are held the first Saturday of each month with the Society annual meeting being held in July. Quarterly Board of Director meetings, covering the operation and budget of the Society are held in January, April, June, and October. Our success is because of our all-volunteer staff, including board and officers. Please consider joining the membership of the Society and/or volunteering, as your help is vitally needed and greatly appreciated. Contact the Society for more details or a membership application. With membership, a bi-yearly newsletter is sent either electronically or paper copy sent via USPS mail.
