The Greater Newport Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the immediate appointment of Valorie Hein as the Chamber’s new Executive Director. Valorie fills the position previously held by Barry Seward of Spokane, WA.
Valorie was previously the Operations Manager at Shanty, voted Business of the Year and Best Storefront in 2011. Valorie was also a member of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, occupying an Executive Position as Treasurer. She was an instrumental part of the Chamber’s inaugural Spring Gala that received rave reviews.
Valorie obtained both a Bachelor of Arts in Urban and Regional Planning and a Master of Public Administration, each from Eastern Washington University. She has worked for private companies and government agencies, all of which have helped her understand the obstacles and opportunities of today’s economic climate. Valorie and her family reside in Newport and she is an active and passionate volunteer in our community.
In order to take on the Executive Director position, Valorie has resigned from the Chamber’s Board and as Treasurer. Greg Jakeman has been appointed the new Treasurer and Laura Merrill, County Commissioner and Board member, will take over Greg Jakeman’s former position as Secretary.
The Chamber Board and members will miss Barry’s enthusiasm and wish him the very best in his future endeavors.
